SECOND PROJECT GUIDELINES

SECOND PROJECT: AN INVENTION AND ITS CONTEXT

For this project, you will choose one invention you are interested in and write a report, as well as,create a presentation about the following topics:

The inventor
The invention
Discuss how this invention affects our world, society, and/or environment

Class time will be devoted to research, taking notes, and writing rough and final drafts. Thepresentation work needs to be completed at home. We will gather resources at school, however,you and your parents may need to access other libraries in the area if you need more information.
While you are given time in class to research and take notes, you may also need to completework at home to meet the deadlines, the teacher will tell you about them.

The report will include:

A detailed biography of the inventor
A description of the invention (what it is, why it was invented, how it was invented)
An explanation of how the invention affects our world, society, and/or environment


Invention Research Project
You will be completing a research report on a past invention. Most of the work for this reportwill be done in class; however, there will be parts that need to be completed at home. Forexample, you will need to come up with a creative way to present your report to the class.

I have created a listof websites to locate possible research topics. You will be expected to choose one topic by thedue date.

Paper Requirements
l. Cover – Cover must be completed in a creative way. Lined paper will not be accepted. Report
covers, construction paper, etc. are acceptable.
A. Cover must include:
1. Title of report
2. Your name
3. Date
4. Decorate/pictures
ll. Table of Contents – Include all the parts of your report
A. Table of contents should include:
1. Report (single sided)
2. Bibliography page
3. Appendix
lll. Report
A. Report should include:
1. Introduction paragraph
2. Three-four body paragraphs
3. Conclusion paragraphs
lV. Bibliography – we will work on this in class
V. Appendix of illustrations
A. Appendix will include:
1. Picture, graphs, charts, etc., related to your topic.

Body Paragraph Information

A minimum of 3 body paragraphs, or 4 body paragraphs if you choose to extend your thinking.
1st Body Paragraph
A detailed biography of the inventor's life
2nd Body Paragraph
A description of the invention (what it is/does, how it works, how it's made, different
parts of it)
3rd Body Paragraph
Effects of invention on real world/environment (how/why it was invented, what problemthe inventor faced and how it solved his/her problem, effects on life–positive or negative)
4th Body Paragraph
Optional- the topic of this paragraph is your choice and needs to be approved by your teacher
Your font should be between size 12-14 and a style that is easy to read.
Don’t forget to double-space your report.
Presentation Ideas
You will be expected to present your report to the class during the week ofpresentations. You must get up in front of the class and tell your name, whatinvention you researched, and why you chose your topic. Your presentation shouldbe about 5 minutes in length, organized, and show evidence of practice.

FIRST PROJECT GUIDELINES

GUIDELINES FOR THE FIRST PROJECT

· What do you know about Great Britain? Where is it located?
 · How is its flag? Which colours does it have?
 · Do you know the countries which form Great Britain? And their capitals?
 · Which language is spoken in these countries?
 · Do you know any kind of food or drink which is typical from GB?
· Do you know any monument river or castle which are located in Great Britain?
 · Do you know any British famous person?

A PRESENTATION ABOUT 10 MINUTES PER STUDENT

 · The Country’s and its capital’s name.
 · How is its flag 
 · Main cities.
· Population.
· Gastronomy, music, culture.
· Mountains, rivers, monuments…
 · Famous singers, actors, writers…

So, each student will have to speak about a  different speaking English language country . They will be divided as follows:
